The oval brandy bowl is raised on an oval base. It is embossed with a wide border of garden vases, floral motifs and scrolling foliage, with two vacant ovals under a crown on both sides.  Chased above the base with four vacant ovals on latticework. The horizontal cast handles on either side are pierced with a garden vase filled with flowers, flanked by cherubs.

In literature on antique silver only this bowl by this master is recorded. It is possible that more objects by this anonymous master have been preserved. Unfortunately, they have not been not recorded in literature. Voet Jr. stated in 1932 that the date letter had been misstruck, but this is not correct. It is the lion that has been misstruck. in 1932 Voet Jr. recorded as provenance, Mrs. Bijleveld-van der Vliet. Bertha Johanna Wilhelmina van der Vliet (1852-1926) was married to Emil Pieter Hendrik Marie Bijleveld. From 1885 the couple lived in the well-known Belvedere estate in Overveen. Belvedere came into her possession by inheritance. After the childless death of Willem Borski III (1834-1884), in 1884, Belvedere passed to his eldest sister Mrs. D. van der Vliet-Borski. From 1885 her daughter B.J.W. Bijleveld-Van der Vliet lived in Belvedere.
