24 Nov Exceptional acquisition for Fraeylemaborg in Slochteren, The Netherlands

This lovely parcel-gilt silver bowl, made by Doe Freese in 1610 was acquired at PAN Amsterdam 2021 with support from the Rembrandt Association.
The bowl, engraved with four coats-of-arms of Groningen families and the name of the owner, Fouwel Rengers Dochter Ten Post Ao 1610, is a historical document that was offered for sale by us, Jacob J. Roosjen,SRI, specialist in antique silver.
The generous financial support by the Rembrandt Association made it possible for the Fraeylemaborg to permanently display this early example of Groningen heritage in its historical setting.
